hello!! i’ve been seeing you posting about trc tv show and just wanted to let you know that i’m feeling the same way about it!!! super excited, but totally nervous about what it’ll actually be like on screen! what are you most excited and/or nervous about?

Oh God! I don’t think I’ve fully processed how I feel. Something something fandom, something something book-to-screen adaptation, something something petulant, control freak reader. I’m nervous because it’s outside of my control the way my reading experience wasn’t (even though, come to think of it, the story and the writing and what became of the characters was not even in my control). I’m nervous because, although many people read these books, TRC (my experience of reading it, the way I imagined things that happened in the story, the way I reacted to different events and characters, etc.) is mine. And the adaptation is going to be something different, other people’s way of viewing the story. And that’s completely okay, as soon as I get over it and my protective, control-freak tendencies (if you care for astrology my Venus is in Cancer…sort of explains this behavior, like letting a child go).

Okay, what am I excited about? EVERYTHING ELSE! Seeing everything come to life, getting to experience a fresh new perspective of something I love. I’m excited to see what Henrietta will look like, excited to see how the characters will be portrayed (including the costumes used to enhance that); nervous about the way the magic stuff will play out (it is a SyFy show), excited because much of the story is about the magic bond between these kids.

Excited to see my favorite scenes onscreen. Excited for people outside the fandom, people who didn’t read the books to get invested in the story. Excited to fall in love with this world all over again xx

Today I’m working on a very different kind of writing.

I saw this and almost threw up! In a good, nervous-and-excited way! And I’m a little more at ease now I know Maggie’s writing the screenplay but am I ready to see all of this come to life onscreen and have a life separate from my experience of reading the series???????
